Legal Aid will pay for the defence of some individuals. However, this funding is means tested and so not available to every defendant in every criminal case. We will help you to understand how to fund your case by explaining the Legal Aid system and further advising on the various financial options you have when it comes to paying for your defence.
Outcome of the case
At the beginning of your case, as we will explain to you in person and in detail, you will have the opportunity to plead guilty or not guilty. If you plead not guilty and are subsequently found to be not guilty by the court then you will be free to go.
If you are subsequently found guilty, or you choose to plead guilty in the first place, then you will still have us by your side to advise you on your options for the future. We will provide the court with mitigation regarding the circumstances of the offence to ensure that you receive the shortest sentence possible. Further to this, we will advise you on your options to appeal your sentence or conviction.
Do I have to be guilty or innocent?
Everyone deserves a defence in law. This is to ensure that the law is applied to each person properly and equally. Therefore, as criminal defence solicitors we will act for you regardless of your guilt.
What do we do?
Our job is to represent and defend you in such a way that achieves the best result possible for you.
We can make sure that you are legally represented from arrest through to conclusion by providing advice, assistance and support. Being arrested can be a frightening experience but with us at your side you do not have to face it alone.
If you are charged with a criminal offence, we will discuss the charges with you in detail and then examine the evidence we can put forward in your defence. Based on these discussions we will explain to you the format of the trial process and advise you on your options for when you get there.
Where are we?
We have an extensive network of 16 branches covering most of England. We will be here ready to defend your case wherever you are based and we have offices in the North West, the Midlands, London and the South East.
