Trainee Solicitor

DPP Law Solicitors have vacancies for law graduates who wish to follow the SQE route to become a solicitor.

Successful applicants will be based in our busy criminal defence or family teams in Bootle.

Essential criteria

  • · Law degree: 2:1 or higher.
  • · Character and suitability: Applicants must meet the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) character and suitability requirements, which involve checks for integrity and honesty.

 

Core competencies

  • · Intellectual and analytical ability: The capacity to understand complex legal concepts and apply critical thinking to analyse information, identify risks, and make sound judgments.
  • · Legal research skills: The ability to use both digital and traditional resources to find relevant law, interpret it, and clearly communicate the findings.
  • · Attention to detail: Meticulous accuracy is essential for drafting legal documents, which can have significant consequences if incorrect.
  • · Communication: Strong verbal and written skills are crucial for dealing with clients, colleagues, and other professionals. This includes drafting legal documents, emails, and notes clearly.
  • · Commercial awareness: A demonstrated understanding of the business environment, market trends, and how these factors affect clients and the firm.
  • · Organizational skills: Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage deadlines effectively under pressure.
  • · Teamwork and interpersonal skills: A willingness to collaborate with others and build professional relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels.
  • · Initiative and resilience: The drive to act proactively, find solutions to unforeseen issues, and maintain performance during demanding periods.
