Young Solicitor Joins Esteemed Ranks of Advocates at Crown Court
Criminal defence solicitor, Jemma Noble has become the latest solicitor at David Phillips and Partners to achieve Higher Rights of Audience.
At 26, Jemma is one of the youngest Solicitors in the team to obtain status of Solicitor-Advocate, which enables her to represent clients in the Crown Court; a domain traditionally the preserve of Barristers.
Benefit fraud specialists, David Phillips and Partners are delighted with Jemma’s achievements, as since qualifying as a solicitor in September 2009, Jemma has grown in many ways, including developing a strong local following of clients. She also achieved a Community Order for a client who pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. This was an excellent result, as due to the circumstances of this offence – the breath reading was above the custody threshold, the client was facing an extremely high probability of going to jail.
More recently, Jemma also represented a youth in Havering Magistrates’ Court, who was facing a likely prison sentence for possessing a knife with previous convictions for the same offence. Jemma’s persuasive submission of mitigating factors convinced the Magistrates not to imprison the client but to sentence him to a Youth Rehabilitation Order instead.
Jemma is also one of the excellent benefit fraud solicitors at David Phillips and Partners and has worked on many cases helping people accused of benefit fraud. She also has experience dealing with all types of criminal cases, from common assault to the most serious accusations of murder and related grave offences.
Sue Christopher, Chief Executive of David Phillips and Partners, said “Jemma has come a long way since joining the firm in 2006 on a work experience placement. She has worked hard to achieve her status as Solicitor-Advocate and has established herself as a talented Advocate in Magistrates’ Courts. She will certainly go the extra mile to get good results for her clients. I look forward to her embarking on Crown Court advocacy as her career develops with David Phillips and Partners.”
