Brady wins latest battle over Olympic Stadium, while baby suffers false fraud accusation

The controversy over the future of the Olympic Stadium has taken a new twist this week as West Ham’s vice-chairman, Karren Brady, won her first stage of a legal action taken against corporate investigators hired by Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Telegraph.

Brady is bringing legal action against PKF after it emerged in a previous court hearing that she was the victim of corporate fraud when her phone records were intercepted using a false email address and name.

PKF claim that they are not responsible for illegally obtaining the records, but that they arrived from an anonymous source. Earlier this week the Metropolitan Police made two arrests as they investigate the corporate fraud which centred around securing the phone records from Brady.

Meanwhile, the BBC reports on how the bank account of a six month old baby from Leicestershire fell foul of serious fraud investigators from NatWest Bank.

The parents of the child set up the young savers account for their six-month old daughter at the beginning of November after she was christened, and received cash gifts from friends and family.

A week later, they received a letter from NatWest which stated that they would be closing the account and would not enter any further discussions regarding the decision. The bank also said that recovery agents had been instructed to collect cards and books in their possession.

With the parents bewildered by the decision, they decided to seek further help. NatWest initially replied with a single sentence, claiming that they lived at the same address of the individual who had committed serious fraud. NatWest eventually confirmed that their fraud department had made an error.
