Scott Ewing qualified as a Solicitor in 1994 since when he has dealt in criminal defence exclusively. Scott conducts the defence of the most serious cases including murder, firearms, kidnapping, blackmail, substantial drug supply and high value fraud and corruption allegations. He leads the team in London and is a supervisor on the Specialist Fraud Panel.

Scott has substantial experience of representing professional people accused of white collar fraud and has been involved in defending prosecutions brought by the Serious Fraud Office, the CPS (Special Cases Unit and Fraud Prosecution Office), Health and Safety Executive DTI (as is was previously known) British Phonographic Industry, Trading Standards, HMRC. Financial Services Authority and Ministry of Defence. The allegations have included VAT fraud, and latterly a large number of “carousel” and MTICs, High Yield Investment Fraud, Electoral Fraud (Special Branch Investigations), Pension and Mortgage Frauds, “Boiler Rooms,” Tax Fraud, bribery and corruption, factoring fraud and CIS fraud.

Recent cases include a 16 defendant Money Laundering case; a £10 million investment fraud; the largest ever fraud within the British Record Industry; £250 million VAT MTIC fraud; £25 million Money Laundering and the representation of a Royal Protection officer at Buckingham Palace who allegedly ran a multi million pound spread betting scam from the palace.

He has recently been instructed on two Serious Fraud Office”boiler room” frauds; a pay roll fraud; the defence of a solicitor on a £9 million mortgage fraud; the defence of a solicitor accused on a massive 21-hander Peronal Injury claim fraud, the defence of a solicitor accused of stealing over one million pounds of client account money. He has also recently been instructed on a 12 defendent MTIC VAT fraud and an overseas bribery and corruption case.

Scott has represented clients before the General Dental Council the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the British Boxing Board of Control.

Chambers and Partners 2009 guide noted that Scott Ewing ‘enjoys an excellent reputation and regularly appears in high-profile fraud cases’.

The 2010 edition said that, ‘sources agree that he will fight tooth and nail for his clients’.

An interviewee in the 2011 Chambers and Partners said of Scott Ewing that ‘he manages to master the essential minutiae of a case at speed and to great effect’.

Another interviewee said that ‘he is a very good and unique combination of a solicitor and a businessman’.
