Criminal Defence services in a multi-million pound international fraud matter: R-v-W

David Phillips and Partners solicitors represented W in an international credit card and identity fraud matter under a Very High Cost Cases (“VHCC”) contract using methods established by our criminal defence lawyers in an earlier case.

W and others were investigated following enquiries which originated with the United States secret service. They were pursuing conspirators in an alleged international credit card fraud which was estimated to be worth in excess of £10 million.

The prosecution alleged that the conspirators stole identities, forged identification documents and obtained thousands of peoples’ credit card and bank details.

Our criminal solicitors recognised the complex nature of this fraud case and agreed a contract with the Legal Services Commission to deal with it as a VHCC matter.
