By Stephen Higham, personal injury solicitor
At Liverpool’s Mathew Street Festival this weekend, I couldn’t help but notice the impact that Health & Safety has in all our day-to-day lives.
Streets around the outdoor stages were blocked off to traffic with people-friendly crush barriers, there were plenty of stewards wearing high-visibility jackets, and, according to Assistant Chief Constable Helen King, nearly 4,500 police officers on duty.
It struck me that, in an age where accident compensation solicitors receive so much negative press for helping injured people pursue accident claims, we all benefit when those hard fought cases result in changes in Health & Safety legislation or best practices.
